“Phoenix”  Rated PG-13, 98 minutes.  In German with English Subtitles.  Post World War II Germany is the backdrop for this duplicitous film.  A disfigured concentration camp survivor chooses not to reveal her identity to her former husband and startling facts are revealed!!

“Mad Women”  Unrated, 2 hours 10 minutes.  The story of a family of overachievers whose world is turned upside down when a prison sentence is handed down and serious medical issues arise.  This film is from Plainview native Jeff Lipsky.  Our usher Alex and myself were extras in the backyard BBQ scene!!  Never dreamed it would end up on our screen!!  Come and join us for Q&As with the filmmaker immediately following the 7:00 show on Friday and the 1:00 & 7:00 shows on Saturday.  Your admission to the film is all you need to partake!

“Irrational Man”  Rated R, 98 minutes.  Woody Allen is back working his magic on our screen!  Written and Directed by Woody and starring Joaquin Phoenix as a tormented philosophy professor who considers murdering a corrupt judge to find meaning in his life.  Also starring Emma Stone, Jamie Blackley and Parker Posey.

“Mr. Holmes”  Rated PG, 1 hour 45 minutes.  A new twist on the world’s most famous detective.  Long-retired Sherlock Holmes, portrayed by Ian McKellen, looks back on his life and grapples with recalling the details of an unsolved case.  Also starring Laura Linney as his housekeeper.

“Amy”  Rated R, 2 hours 8 minutes.  Documentary depicting the life and death of singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse, one of the biggest music icons in British history.  While her music made her a star, her chaotic personal life stole headlines.

The next film scheduled for the NY Film Critics Series will be “Digging For Fire” screening on Thursday, August 20th.  For more info about the film or the series log onto http://nyfilmcriticsseries.com/.  Our pre-show starts @ 7pm and the film begins @ 7:30pm.  Tickets can be purchased in advance on their website but there will be a convenience fee, or you can just purchase tickets at the box office the night of the screening.  Tickets for this advance screening are $18 per person and will be available for sale the week prior to the screening.

On Saturday, September 19th @ 8pm the North Shore Towers and Music Men Productions are proud to present “Good Vibrations” – the ultimate, exciting tribute to The Beach Boys.  Tickets are $40 per person and are reserved seating.
On Saturday, October 24th @ 7:30pm we are also proud to host The Bronx Wanderers.  Brought Back By Popular Demand and quite possibly the best 2 hours of the ’50s, ’60s & ’70s Rock ‘n’ Roll that you will ever experience!!!
On Saturday, November 7th @ 8pm Music Men Productions are at it once again with “Assisted Living: The Musical”.  Bring your funny bones along to enjoy this unique approach to the aging experience that’s as welcome as an antacid after a bowl of five-alarm chili!!!!!  Tickets are $40 each and are reserved seating.

The North Shore Towers Cinema is located in the center building – called Beaumont – of a trio of buildings you see off the Lakeville Road South Exit 25 off the Northern State Parkway, right near LIJ Hospital.  It is located just a few hundred feet from the Nassau County border in Floral Park in Queens.
At our Bellmore Movies this week we are thrilled to bring Woody Allen back to work his magic on this screen of ours too!!

This Wednesday, August 12th @ 7:30pm the Bellmore Movies is proud to host “Moms Gone Wild” – a stand-up comedy benefit for Angela’s House and the Laughter Saves Lives Foundation and performed in memory of police officer Arthur Lopez and the FDNY members lost on 9/11.  Hosted by John Larocchia and featuring Mom comics Carrie Karavas, Talia Gill and Stephanie Blum.  Tickets are available at our box office or by calling (516) 695-4703.
