Hi All:
This week we have one new film at our Malverne Cinema, a change at our North Shore Towers Cinema and a holdover at our Bellmore Movies.
We start with our Malverne Cinema first:
“Weiner”  Rated R, 1 hour 36 minutes.  An up-close and very personal documentary about disgraced New York politician Anthony Weiner.  The unprecedented access the filmmakers were granted and the raw emotion in this film make it all worthwhile.  Newsday gave this film 4 stars – a rare rating.

“Alice Through The Looking Glass”  Rated PG, 1 hour 53 minutes.  Based on Lewis Carroll’s famous story, this sequel to the 2010 box office smash “Alice In Wonderland” finds Alice returning to the whimsical world of Wonderland and traveling back in time to save the Mad Hatter, who is now acting madder than usual.  Starring Johnny Deep, Mia Wasikowska, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen and the voice of the late Alan Rickman.

“Love & Friendship”  Rated PG, 1 hour 32 minutes.  A charming adaptation of a novella by Jane Austen in which a widow with a plan to be a matchmaker for her daughter turns out to also be a matchmaker for herself.  Starring Kate Beckinsale, Chloë Sevigny, Xavier Samuel, Stephen Fry and Morfydd Clark.

“Money Monster”  Rated R, 1 hour 38 minutes.  Lee Gates is a bombastic TV personality whose popular financial network show has made him the money wiz of Wall Street.  But after he hawks a high tech stock that mysteriously crashes, an irate investor takes Gates, his crew and his ace producer Patty Fenn hostage live on air.  Starring George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Jack O’Connell.  Directed by Jodie Foster.

“The Meddler”  Rated PG-13, 1 hour 40 minutes.  With a new iPhone, a nice apartment and a comfortable bank account left to her by her beloved late husband, Marnie Minervini (Susan Sarandon) has happily relocated from New Jersey to Los Angeles to be near her daughter Lori (Rose Byrne), a successful but still single screenwriter…and what ensues is an eye opener!!  Also starring J.K. Simmons, Cecily Strong, Jason Ritter, Lucy Punch and Michael McKean.

“Dough”  Unrated, 1 hour 34 minutes.  Curmudgeonly widower Nat Dayan (Jonathan Pryce) clings to his way of life as a Kosher bakery shop owner in London’s East End.  Understaffed, he reluctantly enlists the help of teenager Ayyash (Jerome Holder) who has a side gig selling marijuana to help his immigrant mother make ends meet.  When Ayyash accidentally drops his stash into the mixing dough, the challah sales skyrocket and an unlikely friendship forms between the old Jewish baker and his young Muslim apprentice.  Also starring Pauline Collins.

“The Man Who Knew Infinity”  Rated PG-13, 1 hour 48 minutes.  In 1913, a poor mathematical genius (portrayed by Dev Patel) from the slums of India went to Cambridge University and met up with an eccentric yet brilliant professor (portrayed by Jeremy Irons) who became his mentor and their friendship forever changed mathematics.  Co-starring Jeremy Northam, Stephen Fry and Toby Jones.
