This week we have 2 new films at our Malverne, for a total of 8!!  At our Bellmore we have a new film and at our North Shore Towers we have 2 holdovers plus 1 additional film.
Here goes the movie madness with our Malverne Cinema first:
“Black Mass”  Rated R, 2 hours 2 minutes.  Johnny Depp as Irish gangster James “Whitey” Bulger, the brother of a state senator and the most infamous violent criminal in the history of South Boston who became an FBI informant to take down a Mafia family invading his turf.  The huge supporting cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Joel Edgerton, Kevin Bacon, Dakota Johnson and Julianne Nicholson. “Everest”  Rated PG, 2 hours 1 minute.  Inspired by the incredible events in 1996 surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain as two different expeditions are challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind.  Eye candy along with mental stimulus with this one!!  And another huge cast in this one including Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Emily Watson, Robin Wright, Keira Knightley and Jake Gyllenhaal. “Labyrinth Of Lies”  Rated R, 2 hours 3 minutes.  In German with English Subtitles.  Hold onto your hats with this one!  Realizing that some Germans claim that they never heard the expression “Auschwitz” and upon learning that many former Nazis returned to their pre-war lives with no penalty, an ambitious young German prosecutor vows to bring them to justice 20 years later. “Victoria”  Unrated, 2 hours 18 minutes.  In German and Spanish with English Subtitles and also partly in English.  This film is a cinematic marvel!  One continuous shot!  No cuts, no computer generated images, no nothing!  A runaway party girl meets and joins three friendly men for a night on the town, which winds up going terribly wrong. The next film for the NY Film Critics Series is scheduled for July with title pending.  For more info about the Series log onto http://nyfilmcriticsseries.com/.  Our pre-shows now start @ 7pm and the film begins @ 7:30pm.  Tickets can be purchased in advance on their website but there will be a convenience fee, or you can just purchase tickets at the box office the night of the screening.  Tickets for these advance screenings are $18 per person.

The North Shore Towers Cinema is located in the center building – called Beaumont – of a trio of buildings you see off the Lakeville Road South Exit 25 off the Northern State Parkway.  It is located just a few hundred feet from the Nassau County border in Floral Park in Queens.  In fact, it’s believed that one of the golf holes in their beautiful golf course is actually in Nassau County.  That’s how close it is!!
