Showtimes for Turkey Week for the Malverne Cinema & Art Center and the Bellmore Movies & The Showplace

At the Malverne Cinema & Art Center the schedule is as follows:
This week we have one new film beginning Friday and two more on Wednesday, the night before we stuff ourselves.  Here goes:
“Melancholia”  Rated R, 2 hours 15 minutes.  While celebrating a wedding anniversary, the planet Melancholia is hurtling towards Earth.  Starring Kirsten Dunst, Alexander Skarsgård, Kiefer Sutherland and Charlotte Gainsbourg.  Distributed by Magnolia Films.

“The Descendants”  Rated R, 1 hour 55 minutes.  When tragedy strikes a young family, difficult decisions must be made.  Do you sell family owned land handed down from generation to generation?  Set in Hawaii.  Starring George Clooney and Beau Bridges.  Directed by Alexander Payne.  Distributed by Fox Searchlight.

“My Week With Marilyn”  Rated R, 99 minutes.  In 1956, a 23yearold lowly assistant in the film business spends a week with the famous blonde on the set of “The Prince And The Showgirl” which starred Monroe and Sir Laurence Olivier, played by Kenneth Branagh.  Monroe, played by Michelle Williams, also happened to be on her honeymoon with Arthur Miller. played by Dougray Scott.  Also starring Judi Dench and Julia Ormond, with Eddie Redmayne as the lucky fellow.  Distributed by The Weinstein Company.

“The Skin I Live In”  Rated R, 1 hour 57 minutes.  SUBTITLED produced in Spanish.  Director Pedro Almodóvar and Antonio Banderas bring this thriller to life.  It is said that ‘necessity is the mother of invention’, well so is tragedy.  Banderas portrays a plastic surgeon bent on finding a process that could have saved his burn victim wife.  He has motive and means and all he needs now is a guinea pig as a patient.  Distributed by Sony Classics.

 “Martha Marcy May Marlene”  Rated R, 1 hour 44 minutes.  Elizabeth Olsen stars as Martha, a cult escapee.  She tries desperately to bring her life back to normal but some of her memories trigger a paranoia.  Distributed by Fox Searchlight.

“The Way”  Rated PG-13, 1 hour 55 minutes.  Martin Sheen and son Emilio Estevez star in this emotion-filled film directed by Emilio.  A father has to travel to France to identify and claim his son’s remains after a hiking accident along the ”The Way Of St. James” trail.  What he decides to do next is the basis of the story.  Distributed by PDATheWayLLC.

Over at our Bellmore Movies we will be offering “The Way” as an additional run which might end after 5 days.  Showtimes are Friday & Saturday and Monday @ 2pm, 4:30, 7:15 & 9:30.  On Tuesday just @ 2pm & 4:30.  On Sunday @ 5:45 & 8pm only.  On Sunday, we have “My Fair Lady” @ 2pm.  Tickets are available at the box office the day of the show or by calling Plaza Productions @ 516-599-6870.  Also from Plaza Productions, “How I Became A Pirate” on Saturday morning @ 11am.  For a complete list of all of Plaza’s shows log onto or call 516-599-6870.
Also at our Bellmore Movies we are proud to host Funk Filharmonik’s Funksgiving Concert on November 25th @ 8pm & 10:15.  Tickets are $25 in advance or $35 at the door.  Tickets are available at the Bellmore Box Office.  Pre-show party next door at the little firehouse.
Psychic Medium Robert E. Hansen returns to the Malverne Cinema on December 6, 2011 @ 7:30.  Doors open @ 7pm.  Tickets are $30 per person and available at our box office. On November 22nd, Robert Hansen will be at our Bellmore Movies for the first time.  The tickets and start times are the same.
