The next film in the NY Film Critics Series is scheduled for July – title pending.  For more info about the Series log onto  Our pre-shows start @ 7pm and the film begins @ 7:30pm.  Tickets can be purchased in advance on their website but there will be a convenience fee, or you can just purchase tickets at the box office the night of the screening.  Tickets for these advance screenings are $18 per person.

There is a free movie event at the Elmont Public Library this Tuesday, June 2nd from 1pm to 9pm sponsored by The Elmont Public Library, The Elmont Chamber of Commerce and The Long Island Film/TV Foundation and hosted by ME!  I’ve programmed 4 separate film blocks of films entitled “Best of The Fest” from 2014 film festival.  All short films with the first block of films presented at 1pm, the next at 3pm followed by 5pm and then some refreshments and the last block at 7pm.  Participating filmmakers and yours truly will host a Q & A immediately following each block.  This is our 4th year offering this free program. Plenty of parking at the library and their newly renovated theatre is lovely.
At our North Shore Towers Cinema we are offering the following three films:
“Félix & Meira”  Rated R, 1 hour 45 minutes.  SUBTITLED; produced in French, English and Yiddish.  Set in Montreal, Brooklyn and Venice (Italy).  This is the story of Meira, an orthodox wife and mother who has a chance encounter with Félix, a loner mourning the loss of his father.  They are two people living entirely different lives while living just blocks from each other.

“Iris”  Rated PG-13, 80 minutes.  Documentary about 93-year-old Iris Apfel, a Queens native during the Great Depression and now a flamboyant fashion icon in Manhattan.  The final film from 87-year-old documentarian icon Albert Maysles.

“The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out The Window And Disappeared”  Rated R, 1 hour 55 minutes.  Meet Allan Karlsson, a man who has lived a long and colorful life but is now stuck in a nursing home.  On his 100th birthday, he escapes out the window and begins an unexpected adventurous journey.  Based on the best-selling novel by Jonas Jonasson.

The North Shore Towers Cinema is located in the center building – called Beaumont – of a trio of buildings you see off the Lakeville Road South Exit 25 off the Northern State Parkway.  It is located just a few hundred feet from the Nassau County border in Floral Park in Queens.  In fact, it’s believed that one of the golf holes in their beautiful golf course is actually in Nassau County.  That’s how close it is!!
