On Thursday, October 8th, the 3rd Annual Short Film Festival 2nd half is taking place at North Shore Towers. Seating is first-come, first-served and the doors open @ 7:15pm for a 7:30pm start. Admission is free. It’s the Perfect opportunity for some of you who have never been to this wonderful venue. Come early, as there were hardly any seats remaining last week.
On Saturday, October 10th @ 8pm comes the Fall 2015 “Oldies Extravaganza” – a toe-tapping night to the tunes we all enjoy!! Tickets are $35 each and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Bellerose Jewish Center.

Please note: this weekend only, the Bellmore Chamber of Commerce has its annual Family Festival and takes up a good portion of the parking. They do provide free busing to our area from the Merrick train station. The LIRR parking lots immediately east and west of the Cinema are open of course.

The next film in the NY Film Critics Series is scheduled for July 7th and it is Robin Williams’ final film – “Boulevard”. For more info about the film or the series log onto http://nyfilmcriticsseries.com/. Our pre-shows start @ 7pm and the film begins @ 7:30pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance on their website but there will be a convenience fee, or you can just purchase tickets at the box office the night of the screening. Tickets for these advance screenings are $18 per person.

There is a free movie event again this week but this time it’s at the East Meadow Public Library – this Tuesday, June 9th from 6pm to 9:30pm sponsored by the East Meadow Public Library and the Long Island Film/TV Foundation and hosted by ME! I’ve programmed two separate film blocks entitled “Best Of The Fest” from our 2014 film festival. All short films, with the first block presented @ 6pm and the second block presented @ 8pm. Participating filmmakers and yours truly will host a Q&A immediately following each film block. This is our 4th year offering this free program. All are welcome!!

Plaza Theatrical Productions is coming back to the North Shore Towers Cinema and will be presenting “West Side Story” for one night only on Sunday, July 12th @ 7pm. The North Shore Towers Cinema is located in the center building – called Beaumont – of a trio of buildings you see off the Lakeville Road South Exit 25 off the Northern State Parkway. It is located just a few hundred feet from the Nassau County border in Floral Park in Queens. In fact, it’s believed that one of the golf holes in their beautiful golf course is actually in Nassau County. That’s how close it is!!
